The first of its kind developed exclusively for content producers working in the Yukon and Northwest Territories. To advance this mandate, the NCPA has attracted the support of Canada's largest national broadcasters and funders, namely: APTN, Bell Media, Blue Ant Media, CBC, Corus Entertainment, and Rogers Group of Funds; and has been made possible through partnerships with Screen Production Yukon Association (SPYA), Northwest Territories Professional Media Association (NWTPMA), Yukon Media Development, the Northwest Territories Film Commission, and Northwestel. The NCPA is being produced by Access Canada.
The goal of the NCPA is to advance projects from Canada’s northern content
creators, and ultimately bring them to the market through one-to-one mentorship with industry experts, a comprehensive
educational curriculum and master classes, and offer customized feedback to
ensure skill enhancement over the duration of the program.
Up to 10 content creators finalists will be selected to participate in the program through an application process. After completing the curriculum and mentorship
components, the participants will be offered customized pitch opportunities with national and international decision makers.
The NCPA is open to producers with a registered business in the Yukon or Northwest Territories, and who
are actively engaged in a current project. Special consideration will be given to
scripted projects and Indigenous creators, though all projects and creators will be considered
and are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must be committed to prioritizing the on-line courses, meetings and
assignments within their schedules. The time commitment will be approximately 2-3 hours of classes each week as well as assignments during the core curriculum. All Applicants must also be committed to the principles of equity, diversity and
inclusion espoused by this program.
